The "Hong Kong Young Historians 2023" awards ceremony was held this morning (December 23) at the Wong Lai Chung Hall of the University of Hong Kong. Our graduate, Tsang Sin-yiu, was awarded the "Hong Kong Young Historian of the Year Award." She received the award certificate and a scholarship of $10,000 from the officiating guest, Mr. Cheung Kwok-kwan, Deputy Secretary for Justice. Tsang Sin-yiu then delivered a speech at the ceremony, sharing her insights into Chinese history.
Zeng Qianyao, known for her exceptional Chinese History expertise, has received awards for two consecutive years. Last year, her paper won first prize in the Advanced Category "Project Study." Zeng Qianyao is currently a student at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Hong Kong and also coaches the university's debate team, nurturing new talent for debate at her alma mater.
The Annual Award, the conference's highest honor, is presented by the Master of Arts in Chinese History Studies Alumni Association of the University of Hong Kong and the National History Education Centre (Hong Kong). It is highly regarded by the academic community. This year, only three recipients were recognized. In addition to Director Zhang officiating at the awards ceremony, Professor Wang Jianlang of the Institute of Modern History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing, and Professor Ding Xinbao, Honorary Fellow of the University of Hong Kong, were invited to deliver special academic lectures.
Jiang Peng from Class 6A also received this year's "Project Study Recognition Award".
